Using comments and annotations makes collaborating on designs easier. Comments encourage general discussion about the work. Annotations simplify the feedback process; your team knows exactly what you’re referring to when you leave a comment. Use annotations to highlight specific areas to share your feedback.
On the artboard preview, the History and Details appear to the left of the artboard. There is also an area for comments and annotations to the right of the artboard.
Leave a comment
To leave a comment:
- Enter your comment in the box in right side panel.
- Click Comment to submit your comment.
Leave a comment in presentation mode
To leave a comment in presentation mode:
- Click the icon in the bottom right to access the comment panel.
- Enter your comment in the box in the right side panel. You can also annotate specific parts of the design.
- Click Comment to submit your comment.
Annotate a design
To annotate a design:
- Click Annotate in the comment box in the right side panel.
- Click and drag to draw a rectangle over the area you’d like to annotate. The number that appears on the rectangle is also attached to the comment you leave regarding that annotation.
- Enter your comment in the textbox of the right panel.
- Click Comment to submit your comment and annotation.
Your comment appears with the number that corresponds to your annotation, providing context to your team.
Reference comment histories to see the evolution of conversation around design-work as you work through versions. Read through conversations in a single thread to keep work focused and efficient.
Reply to a comment
Replies to comments to help keep the conversation organized and easy to follow. Reply from the project activity feed, branch activity feed, or from the layer detail.
Use Reply beneath a comment to start a thread to help provide clarity and context to conversations.
View comment and annotation history
Feedback evolves alongside design. Comment history allows teams to easily keep track of conversations around designs as teams iterate and collaborate.
Review the history in each layer detail in the left-hand column. Hover over the historical comments to revisit the commit where the comment or annotation was originally made.
Resolve comments
As discussions around the work evolve, you may have a lot of feedback to go through. By resolving comments that have been addressed or are no longer relevant, your conversations remain clear and concise.
To resolve a comment:
- Hover over any comment on an artboard to access the actions menu.
- Click the icon to resolve the comment.
View and restore resolved comments
Resolved comments often have useful information that you want to revisit later, or the topic of discussion may become relevant again in the future. You can choose to temporarily display these resolved comments and even restore them if you want to reopen the conversation.
To view resolved comments:
- At the bottom of the comment panel, click Show resolved comments.
- If the resolved comment was originally made on a previous commit, click on the comment to view it in the context of that commit.
To unresolve comments:
- Hover over a resolved comment to access the unresolve button.
- Click Unresolve.
