Change access permissions
Admins can control the visibility of their organization and how new users are able to gain access to the organization through the permissions page. There are two settings:
By receiving a link from a project
- When the toggle is turned ON for this setting, admins and contributors in your organization can navigate to the members page of any project and click Invite to Project. This allows existing team members or new members to be invited to that project via email or shared link.
By verifying they have an approved email domain
- When the toggle is turned ON for this setting, new users can see your organization's name when they first sign up for an Abstract account. By typing in an email address that matches your organization's domain, a new user can request access to join your organization, which must be approved by one of your admins.
To change access permissions to your organization:
- Open the Abstract app (desktop or web).
- In the left side pane, click on the organization name.
- From the dropdown, select Organization Settings.
- Select the Permissions tab.
- Turn on or off the toggles under the heading Teammates can request an invitation...
Domain restrictions
As an administrator, you can manage domain restrictions for your team in the web app.
To manage domain restrictions:
- Open the Abstract app (desktop or web).
- In the left side pane, click on the organization name.
- From the dropdown, select Organization Settings.
- Select the Permissions tab.
-
Select the toggle beside Restrict user emails to specific domains.
- Add relevant domains to the list to manage team invitations.
Proxy
We are happy to report we do support proxy settings for organizations. If you are experiencing syncing troubles and suspect proxy may be related, feel free to contact support for additional help troubleshooting and/or for a domain whitelist.
Authenticated Proxy
In some cases, your organization's IT administrators may have setup an authenticated proxy. If we detect that proxy authentication is required for you, a window appears in Abstract prompting you to enter your Proxy Username and Proxy Password.
Your credentials are stored locally on your machine and are never sent to our servers. Completing the form lets you to sync Abstract and collaborate with your team. If you do not have the login credentials, contact your IT or engineering team for the credentials. We are unable to provide credentials to you because we don't manage your network settings.
If you have additional questions or need help troubleshooting, contact Support.
