Abstract's copyright policy

If you believe your copyright-protected work was shared via Abstract without authorization, you may submit a copyright infringement notification. Be sure to consider whether fair use, fair dealing, or a similar exception to copyright applies before you submit. These requests should only be sent in by the copyright owner or an agent authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.

Note: If you choose to submit a copyright takedown request, you are initiating a legal process that mostly is between yourself and the party you are accusing. We will perform all steps required by applicable law in connection with this process.

How to submit a copyright takedown request

Please email copyright@abstract.com. Your email must include:

  • Identification of the copyrighted work(s) allegedly infringed
  • Identification of material claimed to be infringing, reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate the material
  • Information reasonably sufficient to permit us to contact you
  • Copyright Owner name (required)
  • Your full legal name(required)
  • Mailing address
  • Email address (required)
  • Phone number
  • A statement that you “have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law”
  • A statement that the “information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of copyright owner” along with your physical or digital signature
  • Acknowledgement “that under Section 512(f) of the DMCA any person who knowingly misrepresents that material or activity is infringing may be subject to liability for damages”

If any of the above are missing, action on your notice may be delayed. Once we are in possession of all necessary information and have performed our investigation, we will:

  • Expeditiously remove or disable access to the content identified in the complaint
  • Contact the party who posted the content and (a) inform them that a DMCA complaint has been received, (b) inform them that their posted content has been removed, (c) provide them with the contact information of the complaining party, and (d) remind them of our policy against infringement and that repeat offenders’ accounts will be terminated.
